"How low can we make the freezing point go?" Using salt to lower the freezing point of water -- water molecules form a ring when they freeze

Water freezes at 0 degrees Centigrade or 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

When we add salt to water, the freezing point is lowered.

This video at minute 8 shows how the water molecules make RINGS when ice is formed.
The "solute" (the salt) gets in the way and makes it harder for the ice rings to form.

Go to Minute 3:30 and see how the FREEZING and BOILING points are changed (extending the range when water is a liquid)

Go to minute 5 to 6 and see how water molecules form a ring to take up more space.
